The power of the dog?

Literally this. Was even nominated. What the hell more do you want? It's a staple of American culture and will never go away.

Not a western

Fatigue, and the only reason so many were made in the first place was because it was the fad for the longest time

They still do, they're just not as popular or big box office draws like they used to be. Why aren't they as popular? The genre was overdone and oversaturated, there's kind of nothing left to do with it without being cringe or gimmicky. They're also expensive as fuck to produce with all the sets, costumes, location shooting etc. so when you weigh the cost up against potential profits they're too big of a risk for most studios.

Kiwi made shit

too gay

or actually, not gay enough, westerns are defined by brohomo

literally made in new zealand.

masculinity is le bad?

right. much cheaper to make another greenscreened cgi marvel movie and spend all the budget on star actors instead

>britbong lead actor
>filmed in new zealand
>boring as shit, not even a single shoot out
>its about faggots
most cucked """"Western""""" film of all time

capeshit makes tons of money so studios will readily fork out hundreds of millions, yes

If it looks like the west it doesn't matter.

jews hate america etc
im based
100% serious fuck niggers

its disingenuous and basically fanfiction

and spaghetti westerns were made in spain and italy

i only watch john wayne movies

the genre died in the 1970s
audiences changed
the rightwing appeal of it fell out of favor with Vietnam and Watergate
There are periodic nostalgic attempts to revive it
A few succeed: Silverado, Unforgiven, True Grit
But the majority of westerns do not make a profit and are made on low budgets as a labor of love or out of charity: The Missing, Appaloosa, 3:10 to Yuma, Hostiles
But these are always reflexive and self aware

>What the hell more do you want?
Gunfights.

a movie needs to be more than simply set in the 19th century western territories to be a 'western'

You're not allowed to enforce negative male stereotypes chud.

Alright movie, but not a western. Just a drama set on a ranch

Loved this film, but c'mon it's hardly a traditional western is it? I think OP was talking about films in the vein of Sergio Leone and John Ford...
