To be fair, sanctions are bad and mostly effect regular cisgender Iranian people rather than the Iranian government, but I think the Iranian government is at fault too due to its erratic behavior in the region.
Before 1979, we had great relations with the US and the rest of the West. Richard Nixon in particular was our Shah's best friend and the most Pro-Iran US president ever.

It's ok I guess. I make a distinction between regular American people and the American government. California is the best place in the world to be a cisgender Iranian person. It's our second home.

Well, it wasn't my choice, I was born here after my parents left Iran. The economic situation has been crap there for 43 years and it's easier to move abroad. We tend to prefer America/Canada over Europe since there are better opportunities here, that's why there are way more of us here than in Europe.
The only places where we have a significant population are California and Ontario Canada.
