Were the Asgards really smart or retarded?

>too intellijent to make ballistic weapons to fight Replicators properly
>too intellijent to use a CLI to make computer tasks easy
>too intellijent to make sex organs to reproduce and dies of DNA degradation with each successive clone

2 big brained 4 u

try to keep up

They were soulless bio-machines

If they were soulless then why did they protect milky way humans from the goold?

I refuse to believe they were all smart. The majority of their population was probably hooked up to VR sims cooming their brains out.

if they had souls why didn't they ascend?

is there an asgard coomer wokak

Can the Assgard be trusted?

all "smart" aliens in sci-fi are actually idiots. vulcans, asgard, etc.

they just valued the corporeal over the ethereal.
the real question is why haven't the nox ascended?

assguard

>daniel's ascension episode makes a huge deal about how the individual must feel worthy and be super prepared to continue on the greater path to ascend
>oma ascends the entire abydos society moments before they blow up

I always figured that due to the clone degradation they’re no longer nearly as smart as they seem or think they are. They’re basically just running off aeons old knowledge of technology which they can replicate but not develop further. Sort of like the Imperium in 40K.

You can't blame them for not developing ballistic weapons. We created primitive ballistic weapons like bows and slings through necessity then completely skyrocketed ballistic weapons development with the accidental discovery of gunpowder while an overlord chinese emperor hyped up on organic mercury was pushing his alchemists to find the elixir of immortality. Considering their weapons technology revolves purely on energy based projections, their ancestors probably thought fire was the only true weapon that would have been proven useful due to their small frail physiques compared to our stronger primate physiques. They simply centered their technology around energy weapons while we centered our around mass physical trauma.

This ain't a Thor thread? Fuk u, I'm out

You can be so smart it becomes a detriment. You can overthink things to the point of inability to act. You can look for a solution that is so complex that you don't even see the obviously simple. The Asgard locked themselves into a mode that was inflexible. They lost the ability to adapt.

Smart enough to build advanced starships, but can't make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

If they were so smart why didn't they make themselves dumber?
