It seemed like reggaeton + dembow were most popular by far, but I also heard some American pop music

No

Is the Mexican music scene functionally the same thing as PR or Colombia now?

This is Mexican music.

What part of mexico did you go to?

Yes

Cancun
I didn't just stay at the resort though, I went to Cancun city too where there were not many tourists that I could see

Doesn't matter

Dang globohomo!

It doesn't really matter the country, music in the modern world is a comodity that only purpose is profit.

Culture is dead

True. But it's not like better pop music from say, the 60s to mid 00s wasn't profitable

Only in el noroeste you will find banda casually playing around, come to sonora

bump

durango has a lot of local music, everyone there sucks though

i only listen goth music

Do Americans still listen to elvis?

I'm only 27 and do, but that's a terrible comparison
Elvis died in 1977, banda has been relevant much more recently than that

they still do listen to it, but mostly at parties I think
t. zoomer

what do you listen to?

Yup ...banda is what i mostly hear when i visit sonora and a bit of mariachi in the restaurants for tourists
