I find it funny how obsessed people in France are about their language, and their attempts to still make it relevant. The French language is not even French, it's just a creole language of Latin. If they want to be consistent, they should re-introduce the Celtic language.

Nobody invents a language, that's now how languages work. Jesus christ. The only exceptions are Esperanto and some other obscure stuff.

My only caveat is that a lot of those french word choices are boring. A lot of the jargon that survives language transplants often do because they are short or pronounce funny.

They spoke an extinct language precisely because of this. Modern French (in fact old French from 10th century) is from frankish people who stayed in île de France and merged with Gallo Roman who did not speak a celtic language.

The Italian language was created by some intellectuals of the 19th century after the Florentine dialect of the 1300 (Dante's language) in order to give a unified language to the Kingdom of Italy.
Until the television spread the official Italian most people used to speak mostly their local dialect.

So Italian became standardized, and the standardization was based on a dialect. That's not the same as inventing a language.
