No not alongside. The Belgae (Gauls) migrated to Britain before the Roman invasion and intermixed with the local Britons.
A lot more things to it than that obviously, but in pretty much every genetic test, Ireland, Britain, Northern France, Benelux and Germany cluster together. There is a unique Western European group (R1b)
