I've already seen both seasons when they came out

I'm not familiar with your assumptions about Bill Hader. What are they? Just that he's mostly a comedic actor? His drama acting is god tier in this.

The first 2 episodes were so weak compared to the other ones. Why did they make all the cops so annoying? Theres zero reason for the tech guys to be telling an officer they "were in a K-hole." Its not funny and completely unbelieveable.
It picks up after that but god those 2 episodes really made me almost drop the show.

The humor vs drama juxtaposition is downright surreal throughout the show. Main hero is mostly serious but every other character at times randomly acts like a character from a joke with no regard for "believability" in the context of the show. Like when Stovka says he's 45 and Fuches says "Jesus Christ" like a character from a cartoon. What the fuck?
They fully embrace this aspect of the show of course when they show the feral demon girl.

I have this autistic need to end a season once I started. So I forced my way through it.

It was boring. Barry was tedious. The Chechens were cartoons. The depiction of vapid empty headed Hollywood wannabes was so trite and clichéd-

What killed it was the attempt at mixing comedy drama and action. Each genre undermined the other... the comedy was not funny, the drama unrelatable and the action unengaging.

I didn't care for any of the characters. I never cared about Barry's successes or failures or his moal dilemmas. He was an emotional bank slate.

Only good thing was Stephen Root. I would have loved a show with just him.

And the finale? I was convinced that the timeskip must be some sort of dream scene with Barry magically accomplishing all his dreams out of nowhere.

No need to say I didn't watch season 2.

Dark tragicomedy is the most kino genre.
