They only reason they didn't sail to Europe was because of the death of the Yongle emperor. The next guy in line wanted isolationism, so Zheng He didn't get to keep exploring the world as he was doing. One of many examples of how history could have been very different due to a chance event. Had the emperor lived another few more decades or maybe had a different successor, the ripple effect would have been massive.

cope

Ming China actually explored a lot but the court eunuchs became envious of the status that sea captains men were getting so they sabotaged everything back home. They just burned the fleet that could have easily discovered America and made China the world leader.

It's useless to laugh at them at this point though since the West seems to be losing world leadership for the same reason. All the modern equivalents of eunuchs are envious of the achievements of the straight white man have formed a rainbow coalition to tear everything down and they seem to be succeeding.

nooo you don't understand he is a member of the glorious white race and thus entitled to all its achievements

is this some sort of alt history thing?

This. Also the mentality of most Asian powers at the time was different. For the past thousands of years, people had always come to them for luxuries and whatnot. China, India, etc were self sufficient and relatively wealthy. They were often ruled by stable and prosperous empires that managed to last a long time. They were also very successful with trade and tended to be ahead of their neighbors in terms of tech.
This led asian leaders to think "we know everything there is to know" since they were usually at the forefront of science and agriculture. But Europeans stopped thinking this way around the high middle ages and began prioritizing new exploration instead of the status quo

Modern ships are bigger

Yes.......from reddit

>PERHAPS
romans built bigger ones

Romans took them from Carthaginians

You shouldn't think that every culture in the world is set on a path to be like modern europe just because modern europe has displaced these cultures and become the norm. History is not an imperative to reach us today. And each culture has very specific developments and conditions that change things. It is unlikely china would become like european empires or be able to compete with them. today, being so westernised, it follows the same line as europeans and will be like that.
