Who?

ibsen > shakespeare

We have Camões, basically Shakespeare's Metal Gear Solid version

Marulic> shakespeare

we have like four of those in Italy alone

Not really

not a shot lad but nice try. Ibsen was good but there's a reason he's not Shakespeare.

They have Lope de Vega, Racine, Goethe, the list could go on.

Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio, and who else?

Shakespear's irrelevant outside of english language.

Moliere is way better THOUGH

funniest shit about Shakespeare being so popular is because we Germans simped for him so hard, we basically MADE him popular, you're welcome Brits

>t. Has never read Moliere

I don't think that's true user.

take your pick lmao

And that's if we decide arbitrarely to limit ourselves to medieval writers.
If we pick a wider definition of internationally influencial writers that shaped their local language you'd probably have a list that's longer than Shakespear's collected writing lol

Have you not heard of the world famous Andrejs Pumpurs?

shakespeare was black

Shakespeare sported an earring in 17th century England...that's strange to hear

yes, because he was italian

If you're unironically comparing Boccaccio to Shakespeare then you really have no idea about the literary merits and achievements of these respective writers. But I invite you to tell me how your Medieval Italian writers are on par with Shakespeare kek.

to see*

Dante>Shakespeare

We do

The Bible was written in Greek.
Literally no one can compete.

That's just a list of well-known Italian writers; none of them but the three I mentioned have reputations that match Shakespeare's. I could easily post other great writers from the English Renaissance (Spenser, Milton, Sidney, Marlowe, Jonson, Webster, etc.), but I wouldn't say they match Dante's reputation.

strindberg > shakespeare

Moliere fucking sucks buddy. He could've achieve 1/10 of what the Bard did with Hamlet.

Boccaccio was good enough for Chaucer to copy

This 100%. Eurofags are just listing talented people kek. Nobody doubts their technical abilities but the idea they ALL somehow match/exceed Shakespeare is ESL cope plain and simple.
