Will the sequel trilogy be vindicated over time just as the prequel trilogy was?
Will the sequel trilogy be vindicated over time just as the prequel trilogy was?
I doubt it. I was in second grade when Revenge of the Sith came out and critics be damned all my friends on the playground liked it and Grevious was a double-digit-percent favorite of the group despite the fact that he just looked kinda cool for one scene. I don't know if that happened with the generation growing up when this came out.
No. Prequel trilogy was a interesting story with creative ideas and concepts with flawed execution.
The sequel trilogy has nothing interesting to it. Nobody will care about the sequel trilogy in 10 years
look at lines from the sequels like this one:
>'you're han solo! And this is the millenium falcon!'
they're movies made by fans, or atleast with fandom in mind. the movies themselves tell you how great the original trilogy films were, they jerk all over them. how the fuck can the sequels persist over time when they fucking tell you themselves to go watch other movies?
Zoomers already coping lmao. Have fun.
Everyone in this thread is saying the sequel trilogy isn't going to get the sudden ten year on burst of love the prequels got. Learn to read.
No because the MCU outcompeted it for zoomers’ affection
And I'm saying that you're coping about that, retard
No, and while other answers have already gotten into it, you have to look at what was happening around the movies as well.
Reactions to prequels at the time, as they came out, were Ep 1 was bad, AotC was better, and then RotS was like, surprisingly good.
There was enough great stuff in merchandising happening AROUND the movies in order to make the movie flaws not really matter. Yeah, episode one wasn't well received when it came out, but it had a MASSIVE toyline that people went crazy for and even after the movie came out and soured people a bit, guess what, everyone had the toys already and since the designs and the toys themselves were cool they still got played with. The comic books and novels getting written and released during the prequel era were largely great, some really awesome stories and arguably some of the best SW related stories ever told. Not all of them were directly related to the prequels but it didn't matter, they kept SW fans engaged and happy in between the movies.
None of this stuff is true for the sequels. The toylines we're terrible, getting smaller and smaller for each film with bad toys of bad, boring, and repetitive designs that were either multiracial humans in robes (instead of cool aliens and troopers) and then barely different spins on old vehicles (instead of a wealth of cool new designs). The expanded universe was totally scrapped and replaced with new, cookie cutter lame ass bullshit that was designed to appeal to as many people as possible by retard execs and forward thinking women who have no idea what made star wars popular, so it appeals to literally no one. It's a failure and won't be remembered because there's almost nothing redemptive around the films, let alone in the films themselves.
No one's doing any coping though, no one here wants them to be remembered fondly in ten years dipshit.
Prequels were already loved outside the hugbox of shitty internet critics and people who watch their shit takes. Anyone who's ever watched a full episode of half in the bag or the plinkett review should be starved to death
Jesus Christ, how are you this bad at understanding what somebody is saying?
>this is shit and won't be remembered fondly and I'm happy about that
Yeah, what a cope.
It is cope because retarded gen alphas will remember it fondly just as retarded zoomers remember the prequels fondly
>Will the sequel trilogy be vindicated over time
No.
>just as the prequel trilogy was
It wasn't.
The only way it’ll get redeemed is if somehow an even bigger turf of a trilogy gets churned out. I really don’t think it’s possible because there will never be bigger stakes for them to fuck up again.
they are both shit.
Prequels would have been nostalgic for gen x and millennials.
I stopped with the sequels after The Force Awakens like a sane person. The prequels still suck though. This supposed prequel redemption arc only happened in the minds of the same people who were always saying they were good. The only thing that changed was the sequels came and became the trendier thing to hate as having "ruined Star Wars".
And I saw the prequels when I was 10. I have a lot of nostalgic fondness for Episode 1 just for having some cool aliens and visuals. It's still a comically bad movie and Episode 2 is even worse.
Yes, 20 years from now you'll wish disney were still releasing content as good as the sequel trilogy.
Don't forget the huge amount of video games lucas arts was publishing during that time. And now ea shits out like 1 game every 3 years and the focus isn't even on the sequel trilogy. Hell the fallen order game went back to the OT. There is nothing marketable about the sequels. Nothing new, cool, or interesting.
None of it was vindicated you just need to grow out of this shit.
Then why do zoomies love them?
