The teen drama seems overly forced sometimes but it's mostly a comfy show you can watch without thinking. The subplots were written at a sixth-grade-level so the whole family can enjoy it without asking what's going on every five minutes. Plus they keep the GenX audience happy with the nostalgia throwbacks.

Months later, Daniel ambushes him and his buddies for no reason. There was no long pattern of bullying. It was literally just a guy giving shit to a guy after a former GF he wanted to reconcile with. And to make matters worse, when they understandably chase after him, he leads them to an adult who goes on to kick the shit out of a bunch of kids.
