No, Demon's Souls did that revolutionizing and they rehashed it for Dark Souls

Isn't that just how video games are? The revolution was jamming your "so bad it wouldn't even be greenlit by netflix" story into a video game.

It would work better as an animated anthology series following the lore of the major NPCs

I like how you censored the part that identifies him as the guy that wrote Borderlands 3

Hard to be a god. You're basically thrown into a foreign world with it's own history and power dynamics without having much explained

What's your favorite dish?
I'm not gonna cook it
But I'll order it from Zanzibart!

the soidev seething is kino af

Except that lore actually exists, and as far as I know is all told in game.

elden ring story is stupidly cryptic but still better than anything these faggs ever came up with

Souls/Elden Ring is the ultimate wrong answer for a movie adaptation. The story of these games serves only to compliment the gameplay.

Rocky revolutionized movies, in the sense that instead of a story now you can have some guy named Rocky who screams 'ADRIENNE!" when he gets punched and then twenty youtubers will make an hour long video about how deep your lore is

There's no reason to believe Dark Souls/Elden Ring would make a good movie/tv show. The setting is completely derivative and there aren't any good characters. The characters are memorable but they don't have arcs. They're more like mascots than characters.

>The setting is completely derivative
of what

>Borderlands 3

Shit devs seething about elden ring's success on twitter are pathetic, but this is a genuinely funny tweet

Of the stuff that is written on items and of things you see just laying around, or travel through.
It's basically a detective work to piece the story together.

Berserk, Lovecraft, Tolkien, DND, every piece of english literature miyazaki read as a child, etc

there is a story about revolting againts destiny
as a backdrop you can use this world in ruines
its not hard to see it as a simple fantasy movie

fucking KINO

groundhog day style so the protagonist can die in funny ways

every piece of literature ever is derivative

this game has silkroad online tier graphics

Not enough blond inbred rednecks for this Jew to appreciate the story

King's Field
fromsoft have simply been remaking the same game over and over since the early 90s, and for some reason no one cares

Yeah? Who's the protagonist? What is his journey?

>Adapting the story of the game
Wouldn't work, ER story is just meant to push you along towards new areas and bosses. The "story" is mostly understanding the context.

>Adapting the backstory of ER
Already a little more feasible as there are more characters involved with their own motivation. However if it stays true to the plot then there would be no real catharsis, as most characters would just go insane or retire to be fought by the time of ER.

>Adapting a story in the world of ER unrelated to the actual game
Doable but it'll be a niche to be sure, it'll never shake off the image of being a video game movie
