Whew. There was a lot to unpack in this scene. Too many names to remember, too many subtleties like day light savings playing a part in the story. It’s all very rich and dense scene. This was peak Nolan.

its Mi not Meek, Kerr is referencing his boss Mi Nao to the mobsters, trying to tempt them into a deal with the devil, the devil being the mysterious chinese figure Mi Nao who seems to be pulling all the strings

I didn't catch this line until my third rewatching of TDK but it really contextualizes where America was in 2008. In the movie Amanda Myward (alias: Joker) is quoted as saying
> "I enjoy dynamite, and gunpowder, and gasoline"
Clearly the film is alluding but not outright saying that joker is a terrorist because of his implied Islamic background, which 7 years after 9/11 and amidst America's involvement in the Middle East was very topical. Nolan was a visionary.
