Like I get his point but there are certain social expectations that we all need to have for each other. People hold doors open, they say "hi, how was your day" when they really don't care. Tipping a part of that. Maybe it seems dumb when you isolate it as it's own thing, but it's part of common decency that is inherent in living in a western society. He was in the wrong.

western civilization's decline is due to individualism becoming prevalent over socialism

do americans really?

I've never met a server or waitress that wasnt a complete whore or drug addicted rage filled loser and that's why I dont tip. Because I've got more respect for the fucking neon sign on top of the restaraunt than I do for the layabout drunks that work there

it takes minimal effort to make small talk or hold a door. i need my money. all of it

not surprising that Any Forums has such a high concentration of non-tippers. social retards the lot

That's so stupid

And that's why you overpay for food you could get for a fraction of the cost of you cooked it yourself?

Yeah I'm thinking cringe.

"Manners cost nothing". The poorest pauper can have better manners than the richest kleptocrat. Manners have nothing to do with money, so tipping has nothing to do with manners

Tipping is a dragged out, overdue custom thar was established before labor laws and minimum wage. It was literally a pity party for poor people. Rich people would tip the poor at their jobs bc they knew they didn't make shit and they didn't want to get robbed.

Today, companies take advantage of this by letting the general public of all classes pick up 25% of the tab. If I had a fuckin nickel for every time a restaurant owner said they'd go under if they paid the measly little minimum wage I'd be able to pay all tips in the world.

Stop.Fucking.Tipping

>but it's part of common decency
Bait, no sane man would hold this opinion. Only women and the deranged. Replied because of the digits though, nice.

so the death of christendom

A tip should be a pleasant surprise to the server, a reward for exceptional service. It shouldn't be an expected and socially required part of every exchange.

Fish and tatos.

>that is inherent in living in a western society
USA is not all of western society and barely anybody tips outside of the states

It's just a retarded concept. I acknowledge completely that tipping while in USA is only polite, since it fucks over the staff if you don't, but the practice itself is a terrible idea and I'm glad we don't tip in my own country.

>but I have to bribe the waiter to not spit in my food though
Does your mailman poop in your mailbox if you don't tip him? Will your mechanic cut your breaks if you don't tip him? Do you tip your childrens teachers so they don't beat your retarded kid? No? Why not?

The argument that it incentivizes good service doesn't make sense when you don't tip every profession that gives you personal face to face services at all, only the ones where employees are retarded enough to agree to not work for a living wage so they have to beg the customers to make up the difference.

...this is a man isnt it

yes.
give me the source

Christianity thrives in times of depression, and provides a social framework for picking up the pieces and starting over. Christendom isn't going anywhere

Auto mechanics will fuck with your car if they don't like you, it's a huge fucking racket

Weak bait

i agree.

If I do tip, it's always in cash. That way they don't have to report it and it's more beneficial to the waiter. Scribbling in a 2 dollar tip on a credit card receipt seems kind of pointless.
