what's wrong with approaching scenes to make them more atmospheric user? what are you, stupid user? what are you fucking retardo user? what do you huff glue and watch re-runs of seinfeld all day long user?

Whoa…it’s just like…le painting

Why didn't Dennis ask Deakins to work with him on Dune like they did with most of his other films?

it's poorly lit gray shit for marlel cattle that likes to feel sophisticated for watching these kind of flicks containing stock committee actors from yesmen """directors"""

I'm mostly triggered by the lame costume design. Like, the badass Sardaukar using some boring jumpsuits, why? Where are the badass armors?

literally the very FIRST scene in this shit flick is some midnight darkness nigger being tacticool badass

Deakins is...ok. But IMO even Blade Runner has some of that TV-rate cinematography going on. Shooting on digital was a mistake. But Deakins would've been better than the TV-rate DoP they got for Dune.

at least deakins understands that proper LIGHTING is camera's best friend for life

kino
that scene is kino
most of the sardaukar scenes are great regardless of their kind of boring uniforms

Still better than the trashbags they wore in the Lynchian version

this isn't atmospheric. how do duncfags think this

it's all garbage. dunc 2021 is shit

Yes I doubt Deakins would've accepted some of the shots in Dune. They hired some TV guy as DoP which was a mistake but I've also been severely disappointed in Deakins lately too.

Deakin's resistance against film really hurt movies like Blade Runner which just look too clean and sterile on digital.

Pic? How are they described to look in the books?

Deakins should have shot Dune.

filtered by what exactly? another boring BRAAAP score by (((zimmer)))? manlets and twinks in lead roles? bland acting? terrible set designs? colonel kurtz in space? niggers?

another awful, poorly lit shot. i can't believe people enjoy this rubbish. modern film and television is PLAGUED with this foggy garbage. gray shit everywhere

>shot Dune
>shot
You mean recorded? You don't "shoot" a film with fake digital cameras, you only "shoot" when you have an actual film reel that is burning away. Deakins would've recorded Dune.

That's the wonders of digital recording for ya. Either a scene is extremely bright and everything looks like a shopping mall or you have the grey bland look of some uninspired documentary. This is the future we chose.

fincher bros... wtf i thought our guy was this impeccable autismo perfectionist??!

all of Fincher's movies look like this, poorly lit and colorblind.

To all the anons who can't fucking see get some fucking glasses or raise the brightness of your potato shitbox computer or television jesus christ. Everything looking overly bright/overly staged looks like shit and is completely evident in 80s/90s movies. When things look like a movie set, it fucking feels like a movie set, and makes it less "real". is not the pinnacle of cinema, but is the antithesis of old AAA movies with perfect lighting and AAA set designs. The fucking brainrot in this thread I swear to christ.

is anyone going to point out that cinematography is when things are moving, this is just photography

hell, i was going to post screencaps from 80s horror, but hell, this cap from Nightmare on Elm Street is actually pretty dark for its time period, and again, provides an eerie sense of realism that many of its contemporaries shied away from.

>When things look like a movie set, it fucking feels like a movie set
This is funny because nothing feels more than a set than some digital-recorded clusterfuck with no sense of proper scene staging.
