I never had any interest in seeing COD because its based on a part of Dune I didnt care about, but also because its got that low-budget SyFy channel look thats only admissable to me with shows that dont take themselves too serious (ie Farscape).

it's honestly pretty bad, but do not sleep on the one that came before it, the 3 episode (1.5 hours each) miniseries with William Hurt. literally the only thing they got wrong was the casting of Paul, and Chani's hair color; everything else was like it came from the book

Am I the only one who feels the new Villeneuve movie is much more inspired by the Lynch film than they are claiming? So many of the deviations from the book seem to be taken straight from the Lynch adaptation, and Villeneuve saying “this is what I imagined the Gom Jabbar scene looked like when I read the book” is a little odd since his version of the scene looks nothing like the book description and is almost identical to the Lynch version.

Lynch's version is impossible to get out of one's head and not be bound to it in some way. Cant blame Villeneuve for copying it in some ways.

that was in the first series ("Dune 2000") but really they are in that getup for like 3 seconds total over 6 hours of time, and otherwise they do reasonably well at being the badass fighters they're supposed to be (minus a few glaring things which are also in the book). the costumes overall were way better than I expected, and definitely better than the weird melted lego suits Denny used
