See, I don't have a mental illness so when I was watching children's television as a child I thought HA HA FUNNY CLOWN and GIRL CLOWN PRETTY and as an adult, I don't watch or analyze children's entertainment.

Harley Quinn was never meant to be a main character, excessive protagonism is what ruined her. As a sidekick she's top tier.

It would have been fine if she and the other girls still dressed sexy. There's not enough troons or dykes to fill the theaters and that's why it flopped.

"Harley Quinn" is a creation of the Joker.
It makes no sense for the character, having escaped her abusive relationship with the Joker, to maintain her "Harley Quinn" identity.
It's like still identifying as "Fuck Puppy' and still wearing a dog collar after escaping a sexual sadist serial killer who kept you locked up like that in their basement for a month.

So yes, "Harley Quinn" is ruined by separating her from the Joker and transforming her into some weird dyke feminist power fantasy.

Good stories are made up of interesting contradictions that offer a compelling balance of positivity and negativity. Think of True Detective series 1 and imagine how worse it would've been if the main characters got along perfectly and never argued, if there was never toxicity or negativity. Good stories require conflict of some sort. Birds of Prey Harleyquinn was just no conflict, no interesting contradictions, just Margot Robbie in a costume going through motions. Brainlets will never understand that tragedy and negativity are integral for bringing out a full range of emotion in storytelling and for crafting interesting situations with 3D characters.

If all you care about is your favorite fictional character being happy then you're a brainlet and should never write.
