They lost because their method of expansion was unsustainable in the long run. Europe in general doesn't have that many resources suitable for production of war supplies. Other countries they were fighting like the the USSR was massive and the UK and US had so many colonies around the world that they basically unlimited resources to continue the war effort. Germany could only keep the war going as long as they were in a state of constant expansion sacking the limited resources available in the countries they invaded. Once their expansion stalled it meant they would run out of resources very fast and they were fucked. If Germany wanted to win they should have taken a break from war before attacking the USSR and tried to focus on getting access to more resources somehow like Italy was doing in Africa.
