New Code

Should the 2020s see a new Hollywood 'Hays' Code?

>“The Hays Code was this self-imposed industry set of guidelines for all the motion pictures that were released between 1934 and 1968,” says O'Brien. “The code prohibited profanity, suggestive nudity, graphic or realistic violence, sexual persuasions and rape.

I've been saying for a couple years that it would make for an interesting film movement, but I don't think it should actually be enforced by any official body. It should just be filmmakers who decide to abide by it for a sort of challenge, sort of like Dogme 95

We already have a self enforced one, due to political pressures placed on writers. In advertising it is more explicit, with advertising authorities actually enforcing rules against stereotyping, diversity quotas, etc.
If you mean a specifically socially conservative rule book like the original Hays Code, you won't see that for at least another 20 years. Society has to become relatively stable, but retain a state of high mortality salience - basically cold war conditions.

>high mortality salience
Weird way to say "Constant Fear of Nuclear War

In our time yes. In pre-nuclear times it was Napoleonic France or the Ottoman Empire or whatever. A threat that is defeated, but still lies dormant. That way you get the resource predictability of peacetime (low-time preference incentive structure) combined with the fear and survival instincts of war (collectivist moral incentive structure). I could go on, but it's probably a discussion for /his/ or /lit/.

Yes. Code #1 No Kikes in Film Production from Concept to Completion. They can watch and pay for the American movie but that is all.

Why the fuck would you want to ban profanity from movies?

Yes, because what modern Hollywood needs is to become EVEN MORE sanitized...

That sounds hella gay. Are you afraid of seeing titties?

I want MORE nudity in movies, not just movies full of hot women that are basically softcore pornos (we need more of those), but nudity in general. Normalize it so nudity can be seen as natural and not something "naughty."

Yes, I'm a zoomer.

OH GOD IS THAT THE INSIDE OF A THIGH I'M GONNA COOOOOOOOOOOM

Just watch any G rated movie.

No, and if you favor censorship beyond extreme cases (cheese pizza, actual snuff films, etc.) then you shouldn't be consuming art

>snuff film bad
reddit take. imagine the levels of based we'd be reaching if when the character died you were seeing his actual death. it would be the ultimate acting kino.

Plenty of fantastic films from the 30s-60s (under the Hays Code) would probably be rated G or PG. Rating means nothing. I just want quality films, and I think a faux Hays Code would put interesting restrictions on filmmakers

Perhaps there should be a code that 'promotes' instead of 'prohibits'.

The Nazis tried this and found out that it's a nightmare to actually enforce. They had to contract IBM to build the world's biggest punch card system just to catalog pic related for everyone in Germany. You will also run into the problem that there are plenty of White Anglos willing to do the same kind of subversion.
I would recommend a McCarthyite strategy. Just ruthlessly hunt down subversive individuals of any race, and blacklist enough of them to keep the others on their toes. Make producers so afraid of the law that they don't dare risk doing anything slightly out of line.
If there are children watching then it sets a bad example. They shouldn't ever hear adults using words that they tell children not to use. It undermines your authority.
If it's rated as an adult film then a few profanities might be ok, but only if it is coming from a character who is not a role model and in a situation where there would be no social repercussions. Sailors cussing in the company of other men is historically normal, doctors or policemen swearing in mixed company is not.
Seeing them all the time devalues them. If you're going to look, it should be in a dirty magazine that you hide under your bed and feel guilty about. So-called "repressed" religious people are the best lovers for this reason.
That would be the normal reaction if we weren't all desensitized by years of hollywood and internet.
>art
There's a big difference between exhibiting something privately and broadcasting it as media for mass consumption.
>interesting restrictions
This. It forced them to imply or refer to things without actually showing or describing them. I suspect that's why the best horror b-movies come from this period.
That would also be interesting. So you get some kind of reward for good family values? How would you make it work? Maybe a tax incentive?

That's the point. Nudity is nothing special, and pretending that the body is sinful only does harm in the long run. And it still doesn't change the appeal of an attractive person, same way a pretty face will always be pretty.

>That would be the normal reaction if we weren't all desensitized by years of hollywood and internet.
Have you heard of this thing called the outside? I assure you that even back in those days people weren't cooming over the inside of a thigh unless they were giant virgins.

instead of policing like a bitch why don't you make something kino on your own? own the world like that, cool guy.

Code was to stop degeneracy. The Code was enforced by the Christian church , which most of the country was Christians. The Church new Hollywood was ran by degenerate Jews, faggots and commies, usually all three at once. They didn’t want them to spread their degenerate propaganda. Now that the church been delegitimized it’s nothing but degeneracy

>imagine if movie stars actually died, bro

YWNBAC

A coomer? A cop? A cavalier?

>pretending that the body is sinful only does harm in the long run
It also leads to creativity. Even Freud admitted this, but went on to advocate for more sexual openness because he was a massive coomer.
You're not supposed to see nudity outside either. Pic related used to be a normal bathing suit.

Not when the fucking Hays Code was a thing.

Nah but the 2020’s should see you getting hit by a bus. Your problems aren’t because of Hollywood. They’re because nobody wants to dedicate any portion of their life to you.

You're right, they moved on to something more like this. Morals were starting to slip, but they still had standards.
