you can't be 'excellent' enough for those who are encouraged and rewarded for discriminating against you despite checking all the boxes that should reward you with status and support. Realizing all your efforts are easily dismissed by people born into power the moment they don't need a convenient token to parrot their classist rhetoric can lead to a lot of rage. Similarly you can never give back enough to the community you escaped and they won't listen to you or try to better themselves even as you go way out of your way to provide scholarships, charity, or opportunities. Instead they resent you, cheat you, lie to you, and shut you out because you 'boogie' now.
It must have been insanely frustrating. Independence and isolation is a good ethic for the born rich and powerful but these groups cling to each other and work together to suck the blood of anyone new to their 'ranks'. Smiling and glad-handing you only to stab you in the back as soon as possible. You can never be rich enough, successful enough, smart enough, graceful enough, or even powerful enough. Those that came before will always kick down the ladder or push you off the cliff when you try to do good for those bellow.
