I miss fucking with new players, that was literally all the fun way before all the updates.

They've made the game appeal to more normies now.

Dead Space is one of my favorite game series.

The suspence and fear of what might happen. The thief trilogy does this the best

i never played it
>The suspence and fear of what might happen
what are some other games apart from thief?

I'm playing Soma right now. More scifi than horror but it's very atmospheric so far.

Soma as user mentioned is great.
Condemned, first outlast game.

Phasmophobia gets hella boring after you learn how the game works.

bro i was 6 years old then lol

The ending of soma is true horror, not scary like boo scary monster just terrifying to think about

Found layers of fear creepy too

>What makes a good horror game
The expectation of unpredictable hostility.

also downloading it. looks scary af.
>The expectation of unpredictable hostility.
like? jumpscares?

Do jumpscares hurt you?

y-yes.

Same. I bought the art book for it

I don't mean you as the player. Does your character get hurt from jumpscares? Is it game over if you get a jumpscare? No, so it isn't actual hostility. There's nothing to fear in wondering if someone is going to jump from behind a corner and say "boo!".

>Does your character get hurt from jumpscares? Is it game over if you get a jumpscare? No, so it isn't actual hostility
I see.
> There's nothing to fear in wondering if someone is going to jump from behind a corner and say "boo!".
so what is unpredictable hostility in horror games? examples?

what does that even mean
