The Japanese giant salamander is endemic to Japan and the largest amphibian in the world.
It is a "living fossil" that looks much the same today as it did 30 million years ago.
It can grow to a maximum length of 150 cm. In the wild, however, it is extremely rare to reach 100 cm in length, and generally grows to 50 to 70 cm in length.
Dinosaur shrimp (multiple species). They can live in dry desert soils in stasis egg form for decades and as soon as you add enough water to the soil for a long enough time they hatch and emerge by the hundreds or thousands. I have seen them personally, specifically triops. Some desert toads can also survive years without any water in stasis underground in a mucus bubble and are still living (beating heart).
