Really? In France of all places? I figured most guys would read there. Reading is pretty popular here, quite a few cafes have a "take a book, leave a book" policy (or at least did before COVID meant you can't touch anything anymore).
Maybe, I live in the wrong place. It seems fine where you are. I don't know any cafes that do that, in Paris probably.
I'm more in the outter suburbs but cafes still do that. Some country ones do too since small country towns are very friendly with each other.
I suppose you're in the wrong place. Some cities here are definitely more well read than others.
