「匂いを嗅いでこっちに来た」っていいたいです、普通に「匂いを嗅いでこっちに来た」を言えばいいかな

「匂いに誘われてこっちに来た」
のようなニュアンスがあります。
The flagrance attracted me and I came here みたいな感じだと思います。

は即物的すぎると思う。
I smelled the scent and came here
I sensed the smell and come here
のような感じだと思う。

正しくて自然な日本語。

これも正しい日本語。
「匂いを嗅いでこっちに来た」は「自分の意志で匂いを嗅いで来た」という能動的なニュアンスが強く
「匂いにつられて来た」は「匂いに引き寄せられて来た」という受動的なニュアンスが強いと感じる。
「こっち」はハルヒのことです。

「(俺の)アートの上達を手伝ってくれて」のほうがいいかな
あと、「stray sheep」には「迷える子羊」というお決まりの訳語があります。
その絵はご自分で描いたんですか?けっこう上手いね。

Use yomichan to create cards quickly. Don't try to use Anki to learn words, though. Just let it function as another tool to help you pin words in place in your mind. So, instead of finding an i+1 sentence and immediately creating a card for it, try to identify whether or not that word will be beneficial for you to remember in the short-term. Just make sure you're not spending more than ~10 minutes a day in Anki, and the moment you start feeling like Anki has become more of a hindrance than an aid (like if you start feeling burnt out), drop it. Overall, Anki is not important. Read, read, read.
