As already stated, Hitler was born in Austria. Just a few miles across the German border. Still, he was not a fan of the Austro-Hungarian empire. He did not like all the slavs and jews in Vienna in his early adulthood, and even escaped Austro-Hungary to avoid conscription by moving to Munich. Where he gladly signed up in the Reichswehr as WW1 begins.

He liked the German-speaking Austrians, though. The people he included in 1938 into his “Reich”. Most of them were even more German than the common Germans from Paderborn, Pinneberg or Peine, and some gained an infamous reputation as die-hard SS-commanders.
