we invented ghosts and werewolves?
damn.... we really wuz....
don't forget vampires
Because these are the default now #blackfaeday (it's so over)
>we invented fairies, mermaids, witches and devils
REAL SHIT?
I think a lot of these are indo european in general.
Some of these are shared across all europe but in general those are the countries "of origin" for video game stuff
>>yggdrasil dwarves elves shamans trolls etc
pan-scandinavian, and even germanic
Yeah dude, I'm pretty sure you're reading way too much into it. Like our version of shit like dyad isn't even the same as what you see in games.
>t. had an autistic obsession with fairy tales as a kid
Are you mixing up Lithuanians with poles? never seen any specific Baltic fantasy lore outside of our own literary stuff
most of these are nordic/germ. Sometimes slav. I have never seen any Baltic mythology in any fantasy media
Could you give me an example of Baltic mythology? Like a monster or deity or something
aitvaras is the most unique example i can think of. Other than that i guess we have our own versions of forest fairies and imps, but they're not like those in western mythology
Aitvaras, laumė, kaukas, just copy paste them into wiki. Gods are a mix of greek/norse/slav.
we have aitvarai, which are big flying cocks that bring wealth
we have laumės, which are forest fairies that drown children
if a snake shows up at your house, barn you're supposed to feed it and shelter it and then you get good luck/wealth

you can just look it up on Wikipedia
>cocks
It's a shapeshifter, there are a lot of different depictions.
i was told it was a cock/dragon mix in school
Yeah, it's often depicted as a black rooster, but also as a flying fire breathing snake (not quite like a western dragon, more like the asian equivalent), but it was also sometimes depicted as different birds or something like a whirlwind.
Thank you, ill research these more
But that's not as fun as hearing it from Baltic people directly!
What did we do this time that gets us credit and acclaim? I don't even have any more room for more bragging rights given to us by foreigners.
>But that's not as fun as hearing it from Baltic people directly!
mythology is severely undertaught in school, most people probably know just as much as the wikipedia articles say
Werewolves are roman i think so you really wuz
Nikolajus Tesla was lithuanian
