The thing that tilts things into Ross' favor for me is that he already had one marriage fall apart and he is seeing the exact same thing happening in this new relationship and is trying proactively to stop it. And Rachel knows full well how his last marriage ended and what led up to it but she doesn't take his concern seriously at all and even rebuffs him when Ross attempts to talk with her about it.
