It's kind of hard in the US because we don't really have maternity leave, and what we do have isn't paid and you're not really supposed to take the full amount of time off. That is not conducive to breast feeding.
Also hospitals frequently take the baby away and give it formula which makes breast feeding harder, especially if the parents don't want to pay the baby holding fee.
