Do manned fighter craft make any sense whatsoever in space? Your weapons have infinite range and you can send drones and missiles for hitting things you dont have line of sight on.

For me, it's the giant pussy tube vampire ship in "Lifeforce".

Fighters have to return and are limited by their human pilots. Just send better missiles.
