is this kino? I remember when it first came out, people were saying it was so gory that people were vomiting/passing out in theaters, but I've never actually seen the film.

What? It's just an Easter play but as a movie. If you've ever attended an Easter play you've already seen it

its kino of the highest order

the crucifixion?

It's not gory compared to horror films and the like but it is genuinely awful. The things our Lord went through for our sake...

Probably the most emotionally moving film I have ever seen, absolutely genius. I cannot praise it enough.

This is ignoring if you're religious or not (though that's obviously the message of it and shouldn't be forgotten).

Greatest bible film ever made. Gibson really is a genius.

You must be unfamiliar with Easter plays. They'll be coming up soon, it'll be a better experience than this picture.

>OMG THIS MOVIE IS TORTURE PORN LOL
>also lol look at this heckin gore

were you alive when it came out?

Absolute kino. I saw it when I was 15. The "shock" was massively overblown because normies back then who hadn't read the bible thought it was some fairy tale book when its full of violence and death. The only part I didn't like was the crow scene. That could have just been cut.

I still don't know how I feel about that evil baby. It seems wrong to add that to the story. I also don't like that when Jesus is introduced it feels like a superhero movie. Just stick to the source material, Mel

how come jewish reviewers bashed it

What the fuck is the point of an adaptation if you don't use any artistry? Mel said the Holy Ghost told him the real story in a dream, and his unique vision has made it one of the greatest films ever made. If you can't handle a little slow mo then I don't see how you can like anything else in the movie, it's all in the same style.

The baby isn't all that weird either, you can criticise it as an artistic choice but it's completely in keeping with Christianity and Christian art history.

What is this question? Lol why is grass green? Why is water wet?

Kino beyond kinos

Absolute kino. It's pretty brutal but nothing you can't handle.

The original kino. Meta kino

It didn't age well. It seems cheap.

I watched it a few weeks ago. It was okay. As a general story it worked, even if you're not a Christian and don't believe Jesus rose from the dead, it's almost a historical representation of what the gospel says. Definitely makes the Jews look pretty bad though, like extra bad.

Not true.

Love the evil baby
simple as

>I also don't like that when Jesus is introduced it feels like a superhero movie.

How did he portray pontius pilote?
