Read up on the cast around the movie. Originally Katara was going to be some sort of ethnic chick before a billionaire pulled strings to get his daughter cast instead. This caused Sokka to cast as a white guy. They then realized everyone in the movie was white and decided that the best way to remedy that was to swap out Jesse McCartney with Dev Patel for Zuko.

My main gripe is the double standard set on place. You have people who fucking lose their shit if a black character is voiced by a white guy in a god damn cartoon but all of a sudden it's ok to have black elves because elves aren't real anyways?
Multiracial fantasy worlds the large city demographics just takes me out of the immersion. We have to pretend it makes sense in a world with very low migration let alone migration from other realms. It just screams REAL WORLD BULLSHIT whenever I see it.
