Anakin turned to the dark side because he was having visions of Padme suffering and dying (unknowing that he was the one accidentally causing this from his actions to come) he had similar visions about his mother, and we all know what happened there.
He felt alienated by the Jedi. In the last few months (weeks?) of the war, Palpatine was really good at fucking Anakin's already weak relationship with the Jedi Council.
