Definitely. Lewis is absolutely compelling in the role. It takes real skill to take a character who is, at heart, an antisocial, misanthropic, sullen and stoic grump and make him sympathetic to the point that when he violently lashes out and brutally murders another human being for the mere crime of being an annoying pussy you're response is "Yeah, totally. Yeah probably. But I think too much emphasis is put on ranking performances. The top-end of performances have already surpassed actors losing themselves in the role. What's really being judged is the character's range of emotions and on-screen presence. And while both of them require great acting, they don't necessitate better acting than without them and result in films having an abundance of meme moments just to give the actor an excuse to showcase their "talent"
