>BUILD TENSION, GET YOUR AUDIENCE INVESTED
>deflate it all for a cheap laugh
Joss is terrible
>one man just had a near death experience and is coping with that in his usual method; humor.
>another man is dying and just yeeted the smug jackass who stabbed him.
Ask me how I know you think you're smarter than you are.
It is self referential in a collective conciousness perspective, deriving from the present culture. Everything now has to portray itself as "smart" or ahead of the curve, which has devolved into a sort of depression masked by snarkyness, whereby hope has been obliterated and you are left to only stop yourself from feeling. Remaining in an emotional moment with stakes and a sense of sincerity is now gawked at as it represents when times were simpler, yet retroactively labeled dated while simultaneously longed to return to. The self deprication is at such an all time high that we are left to wipe the slate of any emotional moment, and bury it under a cheap laugh, because it's time to move on. That is what this mindset represents.
go to bed joss
every single joss whedon character is the same character
>No argument
You asked a general statement retard there is nothing to argue
>these quippy characters quipping is consistent with their in-universe characterization, therefor Joss' incessant need to deflate all tension via lazy humor is justified
>He can't even quote right.
Levity is as old as tragedy. The issue is Joss Whedon is unfunny and doesn't understand comedic timing or how levity actually works.
Sincerity is impossible today. It's like everyone has a chip on their shoulder regarding vulnerability and shortcomings. There's always a tougher projection to be made. Fucking hell
>no arguement
Bump
Cope
Joss Whedon's writing has destroyed cinema and blockbusters from 2012 onward. Prove me wrong.
its ok if you do it once, don't make it an entire genre.
>le funny observational quip to disrupt every important scene
It feels insincere
>BUILD TENSION
After 53184 marvel movies, I never once felt like anything bad will happen.
Even after the thanos snap there was no tension, there was no sense of dread or defeat, Strange already knew what it was needed to happen to win
Not just movies, but games too and for longer than that.
Nah man. There's such a thing as merging tension and comedy together and it's been going on for a long time. It's lead to several memorable moments in media and using capeshit to support your argument is just an attempt to lump it in with something this board hates.
