I remember being pissed when I saw this in the theater and the trailer had given away the twist. Apparently they got rid of that trailer now though, but it was too late for me.

is right. The film tries to hide it and even gives the T-1000 a police uniform to emphasize he's the good guy all the way till Arnie says "Get down" like 30 mins in.
