Because this movie was awful, it was rated PG-13, and there were NO BLOOD SQUIBS.
May be one of the worst war films of all time. It was about an EVACUATION, the one that PRECEEDED storming the beaches at Normandy. Everyone in this film retreated instead of staying to fight the Germans.

Also, the real life event was way more grand in scale, with over 850 boats used: en.wikipedia.org
Nolan could've EASILY added hundreds of CGI boats in the background, but he's "anti-CGI" to his own detriment. Instead, his film only used 50 boats, which made it look ridiculous and pathetic. imdb.com
