Lets just run straight into the machine gun fire like a bunch of fucking retarded idiots

Why didn't they just throw a bunch of smoke grenades and make a wall of smoke?

the allied team was all noobs and only took frags

It’s the only way to get medals

quite possibly the most realistic american WW2 movie:
>it shows there are like 3 germans on the beaches, who turn out are not even germans at all, but czech auxiliaries
>the rest of the movie shows france is basically empty of germans, just a few poor starving krauts hoping the war will end soon

it took a lot of balls for Spielberg to show how useless the allied invasion in france was.

If you want to see the Russian version of Saving Private Ryan, look up the movie 1942: Unknown Battle. It's pretty good.

Medals aren't real

smoke grenades are bad for the environment

If it's an amphibious landing craft, why didn't they drive it up to the bunker and destroy it with grenades?

shame he didn't include the carpet bombing of French villages as well

D-Day is a symbol of national pride for A*ericans, if you explain to them that the Red Army was engaging between 80-90% of the Wehrmacht by themselves and that the war was pretty much already decisively won by June of 1944 they get mad because acknowledging the overwhelming importance of the Soviet Union in defeating National Socialism is confused for an endorsement of communism

When Trumpets Fade is the superior western front movie in this regard

The Hurtgen engagement is generally somewhat swept under the rug because the US fucked up extremely hard during its course, it was a meatgrinder that could have been avoided very easily on their part

IIRC it was the longest land battle the US ever fought up to this point as well

>czech auxiliaries
the whole czech auxiliaries is highly suspect btw. hitler didnt want czech soldiers because in WW1 they deserted on mass to allies and russia

it was won by july 43 with operation husky
>forces Hitler to stop his last offensive in the east, calling an end to Kursk
>forces the Italians out of the war
>opens up the second front the slavs have been crying about since the start of the war
>decimates what's left of German air power in the west

> by themselves

Except that le ebul american capitalists literally saved the soviet's ass thru the lend-lease being shipped in through the siberian ports and the Persian corridor. The western allies even went through the effort of invading Iran and installing a puppet regime to ensure the USSR would receive a steady supply of tanks, trucks, jeeps, fuel et cetera

Without american aid Moscow would have fallen by 1942, infa 100%

Oh yea, lend-lease was absolutely integral to keeping the Allies alive in the early years of the war but the Red Army were the ones actually killing fascists

wasnt whole soviet logi done purely by american trucks?

When facing machine gun fire with little to no cover, your only alternative is to run retard. A moving target is harder to hit.

I think you mean the only ones throwing bodies into the grinder while the Americans and Brits were smarter and just bombed everything. The soviets couldn't even move their own troops

Thank fuck hitler didn't listen to Rommel and have tanks and actual combat ready units defending that section. The allied troops would have been fucking destroyed to the last man.
It was a really fucking dumb plan desu and even Churchill went crazy trying to stop it.
Lucky allies I guess.

>wasnt whole soviet logi done purely by american trucks?

The hard part was. The railways did most of the transporting, but the really hard part of supply was always going from where the railway ends to the actual frontline. Nothing does that better than trucks. If you don't have trucks and the fuel to run them you are back into 1800s warfare. American deliveries of truck, rail cars and locomotives being delivered also allowed the Soviet factories to focus on making tanks.

so the main advantage over german mostly horse based logi was lendlease. Ty user. The new soviet revisionism really pisses me off
>soviets didnt human wave! pay no mind to the fact they lost 5 men for every german one

Why didn't front line get shields ?

Where else were they supposed to run?

they did, pic related, but smoke isn't like call of duty, plus it was pretty windy that day which drastically reduces the effectiveness of smoke

That's a good movie, also known as "Rzhev" view it for free on Tubi

You should read this book. Some of the detailed information might be a bit out of date for serious historians but it's basically the best intro to military logistics. The difference between mechanized logistics and animals is extreme.

Because it isn’t

>by themselves
Tankies really are historylets

>he thinks war is a kill race
Kek

The Final Stand/Last Frontier is also good. The recent Russian war films aren't afraid to show the human cost of the Soviet Union defeating the Germans. Sometimes it's even shocking because you expect a rah-rah patriotic jingoist movie and then it's portrayed historically accurate.

At times the only armour fighting in Stalingrad was allied via lend lease.

russians also did 100% of the gang-rapes of little girls

>russians also did 100% of the gang-rapes of little girls

Maybe 99% if you include the North African savages the French lost control of in the Italian mountains.

they made a whole war out of that concept.
