It's more about recognition than being good. If you are lucky enough to star in a successful movie or TV series than it will launch your career. For example look at everyone who was in GoT. Casper Van Dien wasn't really in anything good. Starship Troopers is more of a cult classic.

I don't hate starship troopers I snuck in the theater to see it as kid because It was rated R. It just wasn't a very big or successful film. Upcoming actors really only get one shot to lead a big budget film like that and if it tanks...
