Was Del Toro right? Did it only flop because no one watches adult movies anymore?
Was Del Toro right? Did it only flop because no one watches adult movies anymore?
It was marketed about as well as his other flops
>2h30
>remake
>set in the 40s
>older adults still not going to the movies
it was doomed from the start
would you?
It flopped because its a remake and anyone can watch the original or read the story it was based off of.
What's it a remake of?
OH N-
Nightmare Alley
Nightmare Alley
>no advertising
>in theaters for fifteen minutes
>cult director making movie much different than his other movies
>director has barely worked in a decade of his own volition
Instead of blaming consumers for not doing the studio's job for them and blaming capeshit like every other director, why not blame the studios? It's because he's a bitch, doesn't want to hurt the relationships he's so dependent on.
>Did it only flop because no one watches adult movies anymore?
Has a Del Toro movie ever "not flopped"?
here in spain it's getting lots of advertisement, and it's doing "ok" for that kind of movie
Thank (You), I'll watch this tonight instead.
That sounds about right for a non-fantasy del Toro movie. The Shape of Water didn't do amazingly either, but it still did okay just off the idea of romancing the fishman.
I liked the original but I don't really want to watch this if it's just some pozzed ultra gory version of it. How does it compare?
95% the same movie but with flashier colors and steadycam
Shape of Water made ten times it's budget. This one hasn't even broke even and it's already been pushed off to streaming services.
Brings a whole new meaning to "Geek Squad"
It probably should have been straight to streaming. This isn't a movie people go to theaters to see.
>$60M budget
>from the late FOX studio
Disney killed it
