Is there anything you watch for the sole purpose of putting yourself to sleep?

Is there anything you watch for the sole purpose of putting yourself to sleep?

For me it's the old TV guide channel, because the ambience is burned into the back of my skull from the last time the world seemed predictable, formulaic even:

As the 90s rolled into the 2000s, the channel eventually got bought by TV Guide and renamed the "TV Guide channel", which is ironic seeing as how an analogue channel was becoming obsolete, and the solution was to name it after an ever more obsolete format for getting tv listings (a magazine)

With each year the ad space took up more and more of the screen, the channel listing section shrunk, and you had to wait longer to see the listing for the channel you wanted. And then cable service switched to digital in the early 2000s and the network was rendered obsolete by the "GUIDE" button on your remote.

My brother and I would call it a "sleeper movie". Just some comedy we had seen before. Futurama DVDs also worked.

my brain is fried, "the Prevue channel" was the old name before it got bought out

The Young Americans looks good

>screens in the bedroom
Absolutely not.

fucking based old ass user.
That rolling guide was kino.

Texas walker ranger. Man an hour of that lasts an eternity.

>Holy crap the channels go over 100???

SAVE ME NIGGER MAN!

what about some xena or old hercules

I don't need a fucking tv on to fall asleep. Break yourself if the habit you faggot.

Captcha: TV404

Haven't watched those since I was a little kid so not too sure but maybe.

Sleep shows: pawn stars, kitchen nightmares, your mom's house podcast, buzzfeed's unsolved mysteries, and ancient aliens.

I don't have a tv in my room anymore but when i did it was during the age of physical media. I would always put on either a kurosawa dvd, or chuck on simpsons/futurama with the commentary on.

Wife Swap

Baseball

INDIAN SUMMER. UFC 2!

Softcore porn or anything from full moon features. If you fall asleep you miss nothing if you stay awake you see some tits and maybe get a laugh out of the shit tier production.

And at the time I was pissed, because it meant you had to watch the Prevue channel longer until it scrolled to your channel

Life was better when we only had access to like 50 channels, and you watched whatever was on. Cable television was a lot better back then too.

Now, you have hundreds of channels, several streaming services, and the internet, yet the SOUL of the old days is just not there

it's like a constant feed of the ambient marketing of a snapshot in time, some real vaporwave shit. Either that, or we're just projecting our memories of childhood onto commercial garbage-

I miss getting my entertainment weekly on fridays

>yet the SOUL of the old days is just not there
yeah it is, just watch rockford files

i also like a lot of user made history youtubes but have delving into ancient aliens types of crap, very soothing and sends you off to distant magical realms~~~~~

to be fair 90% of shows got cancelled their first season because they were hot garbage, and a lot of garbage seemed to run forever. Then again, you're less likely to get exposed to radically new things if you're constantly tailoring your feed to match your narrow genre interests. No one wants to sit down and watch an episode of a show they never heard of, they'd rather watch the Office endlessly, or follow the same writers, directors, actors, and genres

i used to watch something similar back in the day. i listened to the music, and enjoyed it.

Thank you OP you reminded me of a little less of a crazy time that didn't suck too much.
