It hasnt lost its soul it just wasnt as impressive as your 10 year old self remembers it to be. The anime has always been over hyped and garbage. The manga does what the anime tries to do far superior but they dont have a pikachu. The games were never hard its just you were not as smart as a kid. We all did it on our first save file level one and only one pokemon making the elite 4 harder then they were.
