Because it's the oldest and longest movie franchise that still has new movies and shows it must be doing something right. Unlike so many other franchises that are dying left and right this one is doing well for itself.
Even though getting into these movies is like science but way easier to marathon than it seems.

I think it's much better. Drops the Apes, much more serious, better score (and I like vsMGs score), some of the best human pathos of the franchise and Titanosaurus is vastly better than King Cesar.

I have a whole tier list but I don't like threads that become a contest between lists and I'm not 100% happy with it anyway. Each year I rewatch it the list is slightly different. But I think I keep loving Showa more and more and that includes non-Godzilla movies. You had that crew that was at the height of their power: Honda, Tsuburaya, Sekizawa, Ifukube and even Tanaka, though sometimes annoyed Honda with his choices, had good instict.
