Is Singapore a good place to live for an educated European guy with a Masters degree?
Singapore
Absolutely not
We are practically a third world country, those pictures are a meme
I recommend Taiwan for the #asia experience, they understand English there too
Do you know how the pay is compared to European countries?
I thought Singapore was supposed to be quite modern and nice. I guess that's not the case then?
Singaporeans who have the skills and qualifications leave this shithole.
Yes, my friend lives there, but he strongly recommends not going there to live if you aren’t a seriously structured and rule-based person or else it’s hell
But he loves the hawker markets that’s for sure
My friend (who is Chinese) was born in Jakarta, moved to Singapore for over a decade, and now lives in Shanghai
She loves Shanghai but always says she misses the “spirit” or whatever of SEA, says everyone there is nicer and the culture is a lot more tangible
It's exactly the kind of place for someone in the upper echelons of society.
>won't get mogged talent-wise as often as in a genuine top-tier city
>safe and clean, especially if you don't have to live in or visit a working class area
>all legs are open to wypipo
>even the local xenophobes can't say shit about if you're somewhat uniquely talented and even a simple Master's is enough to shut most of them up
fuck off we we are full
everyone in Singapore speaks English because they all want to suck western penises
Singapore is also super rich on average, much more than Korea and Japan even
you will not suffer as a hwaito piggy in Singapore
So the pay is pretty good then? It looks attractive but if the salary is much worse maybe I'll rather consider Europe
I honestly don't mind that too much. Maybe because of my heritage ... Do you know about the pay there though? That's my main concern atm. I think everything else is acceptable
why move to B grade/C grade NYC when you can move to, you know, NYC 🙄
Someone Ik moved from Singapore to Germany, masters degree, worked in tech. He had a much bigger house in Singapore but he likes Germany better.
Most places can be a good place to live for an educated European guy.
Never been to NYC, I see.
full of americans
No idea pay in Europe
In general, salary is about half of US, but we have lower taxes
I think the salary is similar here, maybe a bit lower and the taxes are higher. So doesn't seem too bad then, I guess
Singapore is literally known for being rich
Taiwan is literally known for being poor
>But he loves the hawker markets that’s for sure
Maxwell is the greatest culinary experience on this planet
That's a very good question. I'm a programmer with bachelor's degree and I've been thinking of moving to a high-tech, highly developed country in the distant future when I'll "settle down".
I thought of Singapore but the idea of a city-state makes me quite claustrophobic. Is it a real feeling people deal with or is it just a meme?
I also thought of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. I'm not really considering China or Hong Kong because of the regime. I want a country without cringe idpol like in the west with ethnocultural divisions in society and I'm willing to fully assimilate. I'm really just interested in developing tech.
Opinions on their future and maybe other possible destinations?
how's NYC, SF etc. qol and tech-scene wise?
>how's NYC, SF etc. qol and tech-scene wise?
If you're looking for money you come to the US, period. With that comes QOL of course.
Fuck off we're full
