I lived a year near to LA during college. You can't really judge such a huge fucking metropolis. There's very nice neighborhoods, mid-point comfy parts and also shitholes.
In my experience, it's not that bad.
I could see a 4chincel hating it because you do need to be rather extroverted to survive adequately but that also applies to every big city.
