thats the problem, 5 min to clear snow is a lot. i always drive somewhere several times a day, i rarely have to spend more than 30 seconds to brush of some snow from the windscreen. also timer or remote controlled heaters exist or even better this funny thing called garages thats actually designed to house your car but most use to store shit they should have thrown away years ago.

more people live detached than apartments, and nice modern apartments, atleast here, have indoor parking.
i got a city apartment i live part time from with street parking. after weekends of heavy snowfall its always so fun to see the stupid people digging out their cars getting stuck and generally hating life on monday morning, just because they cant think ahead and atleast move their car once during the weekend. just drive to the mall and park it in the heated garage to let it thow off while you go shopping?

Where I'm from there are 1.7 million people, most of whom live in apartments. Sure in the countryside it's different, but then again they are the ones who will more likely have to clear their driveways etc. also and not just their car. But there's also electrical heating + poles for just that, so you could argue that it's always just peoples stupidity at fault.
