incredible building... incredible how they even made that centuries ago... craftmanship... knowledge... determination... just fkn AMAZING

For some perspective, it was opened in 1092, the Aztecs didn't even form until 1300

It is honestly a beautiful church.

>Historically, the world's tallest man-made structure was the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, which held the position for over 3,800 years until the construction of Lincoln Cathedral in 1311.

Human civilisation goes sort of like this:

Ancient Egypt -> Great Britain

>Many historians claim it became the tallest building in the world upon the completion of its 160 metres (520 ft) high central spire in 1311; if so, it was the first building to hold that title after the Great Pyramid of Giza, and held it for 238 years until the spire collapsed in 1548.

Not bad but its no Durham Cathedral

vgh...the cathedrals of dvrham

>After the earthquake, a new bishop was appointed. He was Hugh de Burgundy of Avalon, France, who became known as St Hugh of Lincoln. He began a massive rebuilding and expansion programme. With his appointment of William de Montibus as master of the cathedral school and chancellor, Lincoln briefly became one of the leading educational centres in England, producing writers such as Samuel Presbiter and Richard of Wetheringsett, though it declined in importance after William's death in 1213.[15] Rebuilding began with the choir (St Hugh's Choir) and the eastern transepts between 1192 and 1210.
Is there ANY part of English culture and heritage that wasn't imported from France?

I can tell on first glance that this is England

very few places in the world have this much sovl

Those vile terrace houses are a pretty big give away

Because most people are aware of where Lincoln Cathedral is. Fucking clown.

The depression brick jungle in front gives it away

The Lincoln Cathedral looks quite unique with its three towers. No one would confuse it for a church in Germany or France.
