You can buy milk in cartons as well, but people don’t like the cartons because they are harder to store in the fridge - the milk bags can be lain on their side and most Canadian fridges have shelves where these things go (with egg cartons). Also, a lot of ‘old school’ Canadians drink high quantities of black tea with milk, I burn through almost 2 litres a week, so buying in 4L is the only way to make milk last through the week at my household.
