You got me into thinking about your question and trying to place myself in your shoes. So here's the thing, while Germanic languages can accommodate Romance language's words and certain idiomatic expressions the same doesn't really applies for Romance Languages being French the notable exception. So RL are mostly unable to directly absorb and fit ideas of Germanic origins, it's an asymmetrical relationship that you gotta get yourself used to.

You can try to circumvent this problem by looking for an equivalent in French for what you're trying to say since French is a gateway for Germanic ideas for Romance language speakers. Classical writers did that all the time whenever they needed to explain German/Bri ish concepts.
