Muslims built a few monuments here and there, and so did the ancient European Indo Aryans, but other than that, you were no different from tribal savages in Papua New Guinea or Tanzania. European Christians were the ones who taught you literacy, but after you gained independence, the progress stagnated and now you're at your current national literacy rate of 53% percent. Not really. India was a leading manufacturer of textiles in the 1600s and 1700s. Indian traders were present all over South East Asia and East Asia. Indians hadbbeen trading with Rome since ancient times to the point where the trade was so much in favour of India, one Roman senator claimed that India was taking all the gold of Rome. Indeed, Indian temple treasuries still have hundreds of thousands of Roman gold coins even today.

They even managed to reach China by sea, as indicated by the fact that Fujian has a Tamil temple that's a milennia old. Even Bodhidharma was also likely a Tamil prince.
