what do i drink? just anything? does this celebration have any specific foods and drinks? special days are an excuse to eat specific kinds of dishes usually

sure
we basically imported the american version of st patrick's day so it's pretty much the same
It wasn't much of a holiday here before

Everyone is Irish on St Patricks day~

In USA we go to various themed parades and bar crawls. Eat corned beef and cabbage, drink Irish beers and whiskeys, wear green and eat green colored whatever. In Chicago they dye the river bright green, it looks based.

why do americans celebrate an irish holiday?

because America has a huge Irish diaspora and they brought it with them

Everybody's got a of of Oirish in them here

Its not Irish its primarily Irish-American. Same as Halloween, iirc. Irish diaspora would put on big parades on St Patricks day because they were homesick or whatever. Then it caught on with everyone else even the Irish people in Ireland. Everyone loves a party (except bitter incels aka St Patrick day scrooges)

Thanks bro my grandmothers last name was gilson so i think im like 5% irish!

Guiness, or really any alcohol

based

It’s roots are Irish so you need to drink a lot of Guinness. See you on the other side. Godspeed

>tfw kid of Irish immigrant parents
>spent summers in louth as a kid
I didn't appreciate them til I was older.
I think about moving every now and then as I have an irish passport I dont use.

Irish car bombs

I dont know if my yank wife will go with me also I own a lot of guns here.

It's a meme holiday to drink like Cinco de mayo. There's nothing you do to celebrate. No customs, creativity, or culture.

sad, i was hoping there was more to it than just getting drunk. no recipes for me to try or anything.

Do you have a McDonalds around you? Perhaps a local Walmart to shart in?

Yes there is. Corn beef and cabbage like I listed in Allrecipes has a whole section:
allrecipes.com/recipes/197/holidays-and-events/st-patricks-day/

4channel attracts a bunch of young men (boys) who probably don't ever cook. But corned beef is delicious and a dish I truly miss (Im vegetarian)

>Corn beef and cabbage
No one does this.

Yes people do including my family before I married a vegetarian and became one myself. (I'm making a vegetarian shepherds pie instead)

Maybe stop being an incel and start actually talking to people?

Yes they do

Kek I live in Chicago and absolutely no one does this. Your family just larps a little harder the 1 day out of the year laddie

Depends on how you want to celebrate, yanks will eat corned beef and cabbage (Despite the dish being an American invention) however I'm far more a fan of a good shepherd's pie.
Watch some gaelic football or hurling. Listen to some irish folk music.

I used to live in Chicago and people absolutely do that. Oh look:

Again:
1) Stop being an incel
2) Try talking to people
